Accidental Drowning

August 15, 2011 — A family enjoying a warm summer day at a local beach called 9-1-1 for help when the family patriarch disappeared after helping his daughter and another child who appeared to be struggling in the Columbia River.

Longview Fire Department was assisted by Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue, Cowlitz County Sheriff, Cowlitz County Search & Rescue's Dive Team, US Coast Guard (Astoria), and the US Army Corps of Engineers (who had a survey vessel stationed nearby).
